In a diverse population on clopidogrel; 1-yr major adverse CV event (MACE) risk was significantly increased with concurrent PPI use overall, and by esomeprazole, omeprazole, pantoprazole, and lansoprazole individually. Rabeprazole use was risk-neutral, and further evaluation of dexlansoprazole in a larger sample is warranted. Overall hospitalization for upper GI bleeding was low. These findings extend evidence of a clopidogrel-PPI interaction into a general population with a widerange of indications for antiplatelet therapy.
