Dr. Luis Salmun is the National Practice Leader for the Medco Pulmonary and Immunology Therapeutic Resource Center. In this role, Dr. Salmun is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Medco’s activities related to pulmonary and immunologic conditions, including HIV. These include leadership and training oversight of Medco’s pulmonary and immunology specialist pharmacists, research activities, and enhancing the practice of the pharmacy care provided to patients with these conditions. Dr. Salmun joined Medco after 10 years at Schering-Plough Corporation, where he most recently headed the Clinical Research and Medical Affairs division of Consumer Health Care products, which oversaw all Schering- Plough’s consumer brands spanning several therapeutic areas. Previously, Dr. Salmun was the director of the Clinical Research Immunology Division for Children’s Hospital in Boston, and has served as medical advisor to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Dr. Salmun was also a faculty member at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Salmun earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed his pediatric residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, and his allergy and clinical immunology fellowship at Children’s Hospital in Boston and the Harvard Medical School.
