Eric Stanek, PHARM.D

Eric Stanek is Vice President of Research and Head of the Intramural Clinical Research department in the Medco Research Institute. In this role, he leads Medco’s expanding research efforts in personalized medicine and pharmacy practice research, with responsibility for clinical trials, quality improvement initiatives, health economics and outcomes research, and retrospective database analyses.

Dr. Stanek has over 20 years combined experience in healthcare research (clinical, health economics and outcomes, pharmacoepidemiology), education, and clinical practice. Prior to joining Medco, Dr. Stanek headed the Clinical Applied Science department of the Medical Affairs division at Kos Pharmaceuticals, where he lead all efforts on investigator-initiated clinical research, health economics and outcomes research, medical publication development, and scientific competitor intelligence. He previously served as a tenured faculty member of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and as adjunct faculty in the Cardiovascular Division, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He also served as a long-time clinical practitioner in the Coronary Care Unit of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Stanek received his bachelor’s degree in Biology (1985) and Pharm.D. (1990) from the University of Illinois. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cardiovascular Clinical Pharmacology Research at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Stanek has authored more than 100 research publications and is a frequent presenter at national and international healthcare professional society meetings.
